Lena Kostenko, an artist was born in 1983 in USSR, raised in military bases in Siberia, studied Fine Arts in Sint-Petersburg, Moscow and Amsterdam. Currently living in the Netherlands.
Subjects of her works are related to society and its changes. Through paintings, drawings, sculptures, multimedia objects, she expresses her vision, often keeping the connection with already existed masterpieces. Having an academic background, where she has got her realistic skills and knowledge of art history, she also explores contemporary methods, focusing on power and significance of materials, colors and formats.
She is inspired by Mark Rothko, Wim Delvoye, Anish Kapoor, films directed by Andrey Tarkovsky, Michael Haneke, classical music: Johann Sebastian Bach, Giovanni Baptista Pergolesi and Avro Pärt.
